Securing Our Borders – Illegal Immigration
Illegal immigration is wrong and it is detrimental to our national security.

  • We do not need new immigration laws, we simply need to enforce the laws we have and secure our borders, now.
  • Those seeking citizenship legally should not take a “back seat” to illegal aliens.
  • We should make English our country’s official language.

Protecting America
The War on Terror is not a choice or political slogan; it is a reality and is necessary for the security of our country. To avoid another 911 catastrophe, we must:
  • fight terrorists abroad so that they will not able to attack us in America.
  • make our country safe by continuing to address homeland security issues and supporting a missile defense program.
  • provide for the men and women of our military, giving them the tools they need to do their job! They are the guardians of our freedom.
Helping Children with Special Needs
Sidney and I were blessed with a special needs child, Livingston, who is now 18 years old. Livingston has Fragile X Syndrome, a genetic condition that affects development and learning. We made the decision years ago that we were going to do everything in our power to give Livingston a normal life, and help him to learn and live in mainstream society. He has responded extremely well to these efforts and is currently a senior at Pearl High School, where he is also active in various extracurricular activities. As a matter of fact, Livingston is the only special needs student in the high school choir, and he adores music.

He and his sister Maggie are the greatest joys of our lives. As parents of a special needs child, it is our desire to:
  • promote a better understanding of special needs issues.
  • find ways to encourage and support families with children who have
    special needs.
  • work to promote and fund research for treating special needs children.
  • be an advocate for programs that will ensure that special needs children enjoy a rich and rewarding quality of life.
Protecting Our Families
Strong families and the preservation of family values are important to our nation. I will support the family by:
  • advocating our heritage as “one nation, under God..”
  • preserving and supporting our Christian values.
  • protecting traditional marriage.
  • standing up for life, born and unborn.
Restoring Fiscal Responsibility
Our nation’s spending is once again out of control. If we are to assure a continued sound and growing economy, we must:
  • reduce spending and the size of government, and oppose all tax increases.
  • stop wasting taxpayers’ money.
  • return to the Republican principle of a balanced budget.

Securing Retirement for All Americans
Social Security is in trouble. Rampant disability fraud is costing American taxpayers millions of dollars.
  • We should protect Social Security for those who have earned it…our elderly.
  • We must explore personal retirement accounts and other options for America’s younger workers.
  • We must improve and enhance the investigation and prosecution of disability fraud.
Assuring A Positive Economic Future for Mississippi
As Mississippi and the Third Congressional District continue to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, we must do everything in our power to keep the momentum of our community and economic development initiatives by:
  • assisting our large employers as well as our family-owned and small businesses.
  • encouraging new industrial and economic development and investment in Mississippi.
  • encouraging and enhancing our Tourism Industry to its fullest potential.

Defending Our Right to Bear Arms
As a life member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), I will work to protect our 2nd Amendment rights by:
  • working to uphold our rights to keep and bear arms.
  • protecting our rights to engage in the sport of hunting.
  • supporting national policies guaranteeing our rights to protect our homes and families.
