Gregg
Harper has been a resident of Mississippi’s Third Congressional
District since 1972. He and his wife of twenty-eight years, Sidney,
live in Pearl. Gregg and Sidney have been blessed with two children,
Livingston, 18, and Maggie, 16, both of whom attend Pearl High School
where they are active in school organizations.
Gregg’s Christian faith is a very important part of who he is.
Gregg is a member of Crossgates Baptist Church where he is a deacon
and a college Sunday School teacher. Gregg sees his role as a father
and husband as the two most important priorities in his life. He is
also passionate about ministering to those less fortunate and has
worked to help families in need in his local community. As chair of
the Crossgates Baptist Church Hurricane Katrina relief effort, Gregg
helped to distribute money and supplies to those devastated by the
storm.
Gregg Harper graduated from Mississippi College in 1978 with a degree
in Chemistry and from the University of Mississippi Law School in
1981. Gregg has been an attorney for over twenty-six years and currently
serves as the prosecuting attorney for the cities of Brandon and Richland.
Gregg has been an active volunteer for the Republican Party. He served
as the Republican Chairman of Rankin County, the largest Republican
County in Mississippi, for almost eight years. Gregg is also a member
of the state Republican Executive Committee, having served for eight
years, and has worked tirelessly in the campaigns of local candidates
as well as Mississippi’s Republican Governors, Republican Senators,
and Republican Congressmen.
Gregg served as a delegate to the 2000 Republican National Convention
and volunteered as a Republican Observer in the Bush-Gore recount
in West Palm Beach, Florida. He also served as a Republican Representative
on the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Election Task Force
in 2001 and authored a Minority Report in support of Voter Identification.
Gregg was the Rankin County chair for Chief Justice Jim Smith’s
re-election to the Mississippi Supreme Court in 2000, and served on
the campaign Steering Committee for Congressman Chip Pickering and
for Lt. Governor-Elect Phil Bryant.
Gregg Harper served as the 2007 “Get Out the Vote” chair
for Rankin County. His leadership resulted in the county having the
highest percentage turnout of registered voters and highest number
of Republican voters in the State of Mississippi.
Gregg is not only committed to his state, but also to his local community
and to his children’s school. He is an active member of the
Pearl Chamber of Commerce and the Rankin County Chamber of Commerce.
Gregg Harper loves his state and his country. He will work tirelessly
to represent Mississippi with honor and dignity in the United States
House of Representatives, and will help to restore conservative values
in our nation’s capital. |
